A few weeks working with David contributed to a qualitative shift in my ability to work through longstanding blocks including childhood trauma and related family conflict. His sensitive manner and gentle prompting created for me a safe space where I could open up about stories I’ve seldom shared while seeing them in new lights. David helped me develop insights into my personal history and, equally important, new tools to draw on when weighing options and finding positive ways forward.
David brings and allows creativity and spontanaeity to the sessions which to me means he is sharing his vulnerable side yet in a professional way that focuses on the clients needs during the session. This helps me feel less alone and isolated in my challenges bringing color and light into some wounds where there has only been darkness/void/emptiness/disconnection
He has maintained a steady conistently caring presence in our sessions together and has offered enthusiasm and encouragement for my journey and has not abused his position of power thus far which has been instrumental in my movement towards wholeness and healing/self love.
David seems to be understanding of real life challenges and for this reason I am able to feel safe from judgement and bring honesty to the sessions – what I truly am challenged with as it relates to the practical side of life and the mundane everyday internal and external struggles (he is relatable).
David puts an emphasis on caring (bringing caring awareness to the diffrent aspects of the self). He makes room for what is and doesn’t use force as a strategy. Powerful yet gentle, progressive yet tender as it relates to moving forward from the debiliating effects of childhood trauma.
David has demonstrated that it is not ignorant to the reality that many people choose to buck mainstream reality and proactively engage in “alternative lifestyles that encourage new thought”..(alternative healing) etc which has been very important for me in finding a good match for my current and complex needs which are shifting moment to moment
* helped me establish some inner external stability by making a spot for me same time every week
* allowed me to write between sessions as things therapy related arise for example…suicidal ideation…and sensitive sharing of information as it relates to our therapeutic connection as professional caregiver/client
* encouraged risk taking in terms of sharing deeply what is actually happening for me vs. what should be happening for me by now.
* demonstrated healthy boundaries by his example of self care and by being what I could only articulate as professional and clean boundaries (which I need in order to heal properly) and to release shame that has previously binded me
* in my experience shared a homophobia/transphobia free office based in nature in which clients can come to do/attempt this very challenging and complex work.
David has shared a teaching style of therapy where he has shared with me in a way that leads me to learn for myself…specifically learning how to say no (developing boundaries) learning what a boundary is and how to set one. Socratic method/style of teaching is how I experience David as a guide/co-pilot/mentor..perhaps leadership style
I am grateful for David’s encouraging and perceptive approach. He follows my lead, and using simple and effective tools/exercises, we always find our way to the heart of the matter. He provides a steadfast and safe container with his authentic presence, and he is spot-on with insightful reflections in areas that are more difficult for me to see for myself. I appreciate his gifts tremendously, and would recommend him to anyone looking for emotional, mental, and spiritual maintenance as we navigate the complexities of life.
“…thank you for your time and kindness throughout our sessions. We have made some real progress and are finding more and more ways to connect deeply, discuss larger issues and make peace within and after arguments. Thank you for sharing your reflections and suggestions, they have been really helpful….it is heartwarming to know that such a caring practitioner is in my community.”
After working with David for several months I realized both my body and mind were developing a new awareness. It would begin even before I came to the session. The simple act of coming into his beautiful and intention-filled space created a new sense of calm in my body. Every time I sat across from David in our session, I immediately felt safe and supported. As the session continued, I would have insights and breakthroughs that would stay with me throughout my week. All of this was possible because of the “container” that David holds. His questions and communication supported me to come back to myself for the answers I am seeking. This valuable support allowed me to take on new challenges and heal very old wounds. I highly recommend David’s work to anyone who is curious.
